Hip Osteoarthritis CAN be Cured : Treating OA with Physical therapy
A Self Help Guide
Author : Susan Westlake

Book Description:

Drawing on the latest research and guidelines on arthritis diagnosis and care published by one of the world's leading health bodies, this essential resource explodes long-standing myths surrounding osteoarthritis in general, and hip OA in particular. It explores the role of muscle imbalance in OA symptoms and reveals that with appropriate self-administered physiotherapy, your prognosis can be far brighter than you ever imagined.

Chapter by chapter you will learn:

  • how easily OA can be (mis)diagnosed;
  • what a muscle imbalance is and how it can develop;
  • how complex muscle imbalances are responsible for many OA symptoms;
  • how to determine what pattern of muscle imbalance you have.

The final section of the book includes a self-help guide for treating patterns of muscle imbalance that are common in osteoarthritis, developed by the author as a result of her own, successful battle with hip OA.

Trigger Point Therapy Workbook: Your Self-Treatment Guide for Pain Relief
Author : Clair Davies

Book Description: Whilst there is an abundance of free information online about Self Myofacial Release and Trigger Point Therapy I found this book hard to beat. I used it to learn all I needed to know to manage my hip Osteoarthritis symptoms. It explains all the theory; tells you where to find common trigger points in each individual muscle; describes the symptoms that they can cause and even has a look up section to help you figure out which trigger points are responsible. It's a great book for learning about Trigger Points and Myofacial Release. It's also a great book for learning how to locate individual muscles.

Neurokinetic Therapy: An Innovative Approach to Manual Muscle Testing

Author : David Weinstock

Book Description: I have to admit that I was a little disappointed with this book at first. I expected it to provide me with more information about how to track down weak muscles and perhaps even how to get them working again. In actual fact, all it does is tell you how to isolate and test individual muscles for weakness. For that purpose, in time, it proved to be extremely useful. If you have a good idea of which muscles are weak, and you're looking for a resource to help you to isolate those muscles - not only for testing, but for activation purposes too - then this book could prove very useful.

Strength Training Anatomy
Third Edition
Author : Frederic Dlavier

Book Description: Whilst there is an abundance of free information online explaining which muscles are used in movements and exercises, this is the best book that I've found. I highly recommend it to anyone that likes to have a physical book to hand for quick reference. It's packed full of detailed diagrams, not only showing the muscles in detail, but also showing which are activated during a variety of strengthening exercises.

Product Description : Unless you already have a very good understanding of anatomy and kinesology I can't recommend this product highly enough! Muscle and Motion is an easy-to-use app targetted at anatomy students and teachers. It makes musculoskeletal anatomy and kinesiology extremely easy to learn, understand and remember. It contains over 2000 3D videos showing each and every muscle in motion. This application was a huge help to me in visualising exactly what impact my muscle imbalance had on my body. Pain. Is it all just in your mind? Professor Lorimer Moseley - University of South Australia

Free YouTube Video

This video resulted in a 'eurika' moment that allowed me to put an end to months of chronic pain. It explains the mechanism of pain and how in reality pain is ALWAYS in the mind. I found that grasping this concept loosened the grip that pain had on me. I recommend it to anyone that is struggling with pain.
